In addition, with digital x-rays we\u2019ll be able to find decay that may be hiding just below the surface of a tooth or on the side of a tooth that is adjacent to the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll carefully check your gums and measure the depth of gum pockets around your teeth. Gums that are red or swollen may indicate gingivitis. And deeper than usual pockets can be a sign of periodontitis, the advanced stage of gum disease that can ultimately cause teeth to loosen and necessitate extraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exam also includes an oral cancer screening during which we look and feel for lesions, scaly patches or swollen areas of tissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
