While this is a helpful internal mechanism, it can\u2019t compete with constant eating throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips to Prevent Snacking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some simple strategies for breaking your snack habit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Eat slower <\/strong>\u2013 When you eat slowly, it allows for a hormone called ghrelin to be released. It tells your brain that you\u2019re full, which helps to better control your appetite and prevent snacking between meals.<\/li><li><strong>Consume more protein <\/strong>\u2013 By increasing your protein intake, you can better stabilize your blood sugar levels. By preventing insulin spikes, you can experience greater satiation between meals, which means less snacking.<\/li><li><strong>Increase your water intake <\/strong>\u2013 Many times, dehydration can trigger a false hunger sensation. When you feel the urge to snack, take a moment to drink a glass of water to help determine whether you\u2019re really hungry.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Healthy Snack Alternatives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the times when you allow yourself to enjoy a snack, there\u2019s a way to strike a balance between your diet and oral health.
